Ferrum

Listen to Obituary

John Clay Bibbee, age 52 of Ferrum passed away unexpectantly on Saturday, August 4, 2018 with his devoted wife by his side. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on March 11, 1966 to the late Clyde R. Bibbee Jr. and Frances Newhouse. He married Jennifer James Bibbee of Ferrum on March 15, 1994. He served his country in the United States Navy for nine years. For the last 15+ years, he and his wife owned and operated a successful business, Bibbee and Associates Appraisal Services. Those who knew John, knew that he loved life and was always there for those he loved. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved kayaking, fishing, shooting, and reloading. He was constantly looking for ways to “reinvent the wheel” and make things bigger and better. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his grandparents and his sister-in-law, Christy Michelle James. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Jennifer Bibbee; his four legged fur baby, Tula; son, Zachary Bibbee (Mary); daughter, Ashleigh Martin; granddaughter, Elyssa Martin; brother, James “Jimmy” Bibbee (Pam); sister, Jody Stier (Freddy); father and mother-in-law, Jeff (Judy) James; sisters-in-law, Melissa Chittum (Jason), Ashley Kraft (Mike); niece, Evelyn; nephews, William, Luke, and Levi; and his closest friends, Lee and Robin Walker. John will be missed beyond words by all who knew and loved him. A private memorial service will be planned at a later date. John would end this by saying, “…see y’all later”. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
