Aaron Nathan Bland, age 23, of Roanoke and formerly of Franklin County went to heaven to be with his father Wednesday February 21, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph W. Bland; grandmother Eula Matney; and aunt Julia Matney.
As a good hearted, never judgmental, new uncle Aaron adapted well to all the tribulations thrown his way. He would have gladly given his shirt off his back to help a friend in need. Aaron, my son, my brother, all our friend, you will always be loved and missed.
Surviving are his mother Pamela M. Bland; sister Megin Joy Bland; nephew Carmelo Deyon Venable; grandparents Glenn and Phyllis Matney; uncle Edward Matney; aunt Glenna and husband Joseph; uncle Gregory and wife Barbara Matney; cousins Wayne and Laura Altizer, Crissy and Eric Blevins, Ashley and John Dales; and numerous friends.
Pallbearers will be Corey Jefferson, Michael Mattioni, Matthew Adams, Paul Lilly, Jeff Reynolds, and Steven Brown.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Step Inc.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Friday with Rev. Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Chapel, 665 S. Main St., Rocky Mount, VA.
