Addie Melvie Shilling Beckner

Addie Melvie Shilling Beckner, age 87 of Boones Mill died Tuesday, January 1, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Cleveland and Nancy Richards Shilling; and siblings, Lonie Brown, Rena Vaughan, Bertha Nichols, Wilmer Shilling, Alien Chocklett, Vessie Baker, Kennis Shilling, Clytis St. Clair, and Curtis Shilling. Surviving are her husband, Henry H. Beckner; children, Linda Clemons and husband Wayne, Douglas Beckner and wife Stephanie, and Gay Bowling and husband, James; eight grandchildren, Cynthia Hiles, Gregory Clemons, Allen Beckner, Albert Beckner, Melissa Walker, Elliot Beckner, Stephen Beckner and Sara Bowling; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ardella Furrow. Special thanks to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County and Home Health for their care and concern. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. James Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to the Boones Mill Vol. Fire Department. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
