Alan Richard Arant

Alan Richard Arant (Pops) 71, of Scruggs, Va. passed away peacefully and content at his home on Sunday, March 24, 2019. He is survived by his brother, Danny; three sons, Alan, John, and Tommy; daughter, Amee; and his care taker, Michelle States who is loved as part of the family. He was the son of the both late Felix and Anne Arant, he was born Sept 6th, 1947. Pops served in the Army and was a Purple Heart recipient in the Vietnam War. Retired on disability he enjoyed restoring cars and woodworking until his health declined. A sucker for a child’s smile in his later years it became his focus along with an obsession with Dachshunds who kept him company always. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Mountain View Memorial Park with Steve Pasley, Minister officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
