Alan Lane Schoonover went to be The Lord on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Alan was pre-deceased by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Joe Schoonover, & his foster mother Mrs. Ruth Turman. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Mary Fisher Schoonover; his two daughters Nancy Schoonover & Sarah Pagans; His three grandchildren Shannon Bowles, Lane Pagans, & Katherine Fisher; his foster siblings Glenn Turman, Faye Turman Moyer (Bobby), & Jerry Perdue (Wanda); numerous brothers/sisters in law, nieces, nephews; & special friend and brother in law Ronald Fisher. Alan was the most humble, gentle, hardworking, & kind person you would ever meet. He loved his family wholeheartedly, & his three grandchildren were his pride and joy. Alan was a United States Army Veteran who served his country from 1970-1972; a long time employee of The Lane Company, Franklin County Public Schools, & The Rocky Mount Bowling Center; an avid fisherman, bowler, bluegrass musician, & the absolute best Pa-Pa. Alan will be sorely missed. His gentle servants heart will live on in all of those who knew and loved him. His celebration of life will be held at Antioch Church of the Brethren on Friday August 25, 2023 at 12 noon, & visitation with the family one hour prior to services. Graveside services to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Andy Duffey will be officiating. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
