Will Albert Meeks, age 85 of Rocky Mount passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015. He was born March 4, 1930, a son of the late Lewis and Gladys Meeks. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Viola Turner; brother, James Junior Meeks. He was a charter member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church and served many years as a deacon. He was in the Korean Conflict, was wounded, receiving the Purple Heart. Albert was a master barber for many years. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Antholene "Sue" Meeks; brothers and sisters-in law, Rev. Wilburn and Martha Sue Meeks, Edward Meeks, Shelbern and Ann Meeks; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Furnace Creek Baptist Church 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015 with Rev. J. Larry Holland officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home, 110 Grayson Street, Rocky Mount.
