Alex Andrew Hawkins

Alex Andrew Hawkins, age 21 of Hardy has left our earthly home to be with Jesus Christ, our Savior on Friday, October 8, 2010. Alex was loved and will be missed by many, especially his parents, James and Karen; and his brothers and best friends, Brandon, Hunter and Chandler. He spent his life here on earth in a broken and twisted body. He was afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy and was confined to a wheelchair. Alex was born in Downers Grove, Illinois and has lived in North Carolina, California, and in Virginia twice. Many who took the time to get to know Alex have been blessed. For Alex never spoke with words, he spoke through his existence. A special thank you to Cynthia Mitchell, Rebekah Miller, and Sherry Guthrie for providing wonderful nursing care. Also thank you to Stephanie Davis and Theresa Camm, his homebound teachers. Alex will remain in his family’s hearts. Now go run with the Lord. Memorial services will be conducted from Halesford Baptist Church 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 with Rev. Melvin Harris and Rev. Tony Gray officiating.
