Alfred Law

Alfred James Law, age 82 of Rocky Mount, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, February 6, 2008. He was born October 8, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents John Willie and Sally McBride Law; brothers Buren, Charlie and Frank. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Frances Wray Law. Also left to cherish his memory are daughter Kathy Law of Roanoke, and daughters and sons-in-law Martha and Roger Flora of Christiansburg, Joyce and Ben Shrader of Bedford, and Suzanne and Russell Holladay of Christiansburg. He will be missed by his grandchildren Kari Flora (Ryan) Reed, Alison Flora (Brian) Creswick, Stephen (Jill) Shrader, Ellen Shrader (Jacob) Fife, Russell Holladay, Jr., Lindsey Holladay; and great-grandchildren Mikenley and Molly Shrader. He is also survived by his sister Geneva Boone; brother A.C. (Paulette) Law; and sister-in-law Louise Law. Mr. Law was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during World War II in the European Theatre. He was an avid gardener and charter member of the Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren where he worshiped for the past fifty years. He faithfully served his church as a Deacon and Usher. Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren 2:00 p.m. Friday with Rev. John Collins, Rev. Harry Shelton, and Rev. Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday from the church.
