Alfred P. Moore, age 75 of Boones Mill, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 7, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirb B. Moore and Sally Thurman Moore; two brothers, Douglas Wayne Moore and Beris (B.A.) Moore.
Alfred was a truck driver for Joe Bandy & Son for about five years until he passed away. He had been a truck driver all of his life and loved what he did. He served his country in the United States Army. He had friends wherever he went and was loved not only by his wife and children, but all of his nieces and nephews. His time on earth has passed, but his time in heaven has just begun.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Hattie Angell Moore; one daughter, Linda Gibson Hogan and husband, Tony Lee Hogan of Roanoke; one grandson, Maxx Travis Hogan and wife, Malinda Edwards Hogan of Fredericksburg; sisters-in-law, Mabel Wray and husband Windle, Marie Sloan and husband Robert, Ann Flowers, Jackie Martin (all of Wirtz), Mattie Hartman of Salem, and Shirley Moore of Boones Mill. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews never to be forgotten, but too numerous to mention by name; special friends and traveling companions, Frank and Mary Hogan of Roanoke, Haywood Wray, his hunting and phone buddy of Boones Mill; Keister Angell, his life-long friend and neighbor; and not to be forgotten, Shiloh, his beagle dog.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Thomas Foley officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
