Alma Lou Carter, age 85 of Moneta, Virginia passed away January 8, 2022 at her home at Smith Mountain Lake. She was born November 22, 1936 in Dunham, Kentucky to the late Odus Bolling and Ocie Kincer Bolling. Surviving are her two children: Pamela Carter Wright (Bruce) and Paul Andrew Carter (Donna); five grandchildren: Bethany Wright Shumate (Jonathan), Jessica Wright Huang (Ching), Andrew Wright, Molly Carter Wilson (Joe), and Jake Carter (Summer) and seven great grandchildren: Isaac Huang, Charlotte Huang, Rebekah Shumate, Elizabeth Shumate, Caleb Shumate, Sarah Shumate and Everleigh Carter. She has one surviving sibling Margaret Bolling Garrett (Wayne). Alma was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was active with girl scouts through Cadets including being co-leader of Troop 696 in Vienna, Virginia. She and her late husband Jim were young at heart and loved being active with the youth through mentoring on youth retreats and other activities at Vienna Presbyterian Church in Vienna, Virginia. They were both active with the youth at Trinity Ecumenical Parish in Moneta, Virginia as well as she is a member of that congregation. She served on several committees and served in several different positions to follow and serve the Lord. Alma enjoyed square dancing with her late husband Jim with the Lake Square Dancers. She was an extremely excellent quilter and belong to the Kept in Stitches Bee Quilt Club. She had a passion for painting as many of her artistry is hanging on the walls of her home. Funeral services will be conducted at Trinity Ecumenical Parish, 12 noon Friday, January 14, 2022 with Pastor Philip Bouknight officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be private at Mountain View Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum.
