Alva Daniel Angle, age 73 of Wirtz passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009. He was a retired truck driver from the Kroger Co., a member of New Beginning Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe C. and Callie Wray Angle; four brothers, Forrest, Houston, Leo and John Robert Angle; and two sisters, Christine Stanley and Judith Thompson. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, LaVern Maxey Angle; daughter, Denise Jones and husband Dean of Roanoke; son, Dwayne Angle and wife Lisa of Wirtz; four grandchildren, Logan Jones, Leslie, Laura and Daniel Angle; two sisters, Rowena Boone and husband Arthur of Vinton, Ivy Rose Brubaker and husband Lowell of Callaway; three sisters-in-law, Georgie Angle, Lealda Angle of Rocky Mount, Gladys Angle of Hardy; one brother-in-law, Everett Stanley of Rocky Mount; a special niece, Earlene Sheesley and husband John; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Tony St.Clair and Pastor Barney Arthur officiating. Interment will follow in the Angle Family Cemetery.
