Alvah Donald Preston

Alvah Donald Preston, age 89, was greeted by his loving Rebecca as he entered the gates Heaven on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Rebecca preceded him in death on November 2, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Roy Preston and Doris Holland Holley; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Madeline and Alvin Hodges; brothers, Billy Holley and Sam Holley Jr; and sister, Shelby Willis. He is survived his son, Donald (Gloria) Preston; grandchildren, Stephanie Preston, Jenny Hodges and William Hodges; great-grandchildren, Alexis Hodges, Adrian Preston, Andrianna Gonzales, Autumn Gonzales, Aveion Preston, Alyiah Hodges and Liam Harris; sister, Mary Jo (Ernie) Hubble; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Holley, Phoung Holley, Doris Buckner and Helen (Jimmy) Bennett; many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to Beverly and Joe Rutter for the excellent care they provided and to Carilion Hospice for their support. Funeral services will be conducted at Fairview Church of the Brethren, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 with Rev. Jeff Wray officiating. Interment will follow at the Hodges-Davis Family Cemetery (Falcon Ridge Rd.) with military honors. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
