Alvia Mattox Robertson, age 79 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday February 13, 2010. Alvia was a member of Glade Hill Baptist Church since March 1961. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and was retired from Virginia Apparel. Alvia was born February 28, 1930 to the late Samuel Robert Mattox and Emma Hancock Mattox and was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Gilbert O. Robertson, her sister Essie M. Dudley, brothers Junior and Harmon Mattox, also a special brother-in-law Sidney Hall. Surviving to cherish her memory is her son David G. Robertson and finance’ Regina, sister Fannie Mattox Hall, granddaughter and husband, Brandy Robertson Davies and Stephen, step-grandson Brandon and numerous nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to Ruby Metts for all the loving care you gave Alvia and the Franklin County Dialysas Center. In lieu of flowers her family suggests donations be made to the Kidney Foundation, 1742 East Parham Road, Richmond, Va. 23228 or Glade Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Glade Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Long officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
