Alvin Lee Brinkley II, 40 years old of Moneta, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6, 2017. He is survived by his father and mother, Alvin and Brenda Brinkley; his sister, Jo Ann Brinkley; and his fiancé, Kelly Bonforte. Alvin opened a thriving flooring store at the lake. He took pride in his work and made so many special friends along the way. As most of you know, he was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt deer, turkey, and morel mushrooms. Fishing for Stripers was his passion. Anyone who has had the pleasure of fishing with him knows he liked to be referred to as "Captain Alvin, the Fish Slayer." He will be missed by so many who loved him. We know he is in a better place now. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Halesford Baptist Church with Pastor Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount – Smith Mountain Lake.
