Alvin John Shively, Jr.

A. J. Shively, age 82 of Ferrum passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at Franklin Rehab in Rocky Mount. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Shively; parents, Alvin Shively and Mattie; step-father, Thomas Cobbler; brothers, Naaman, Broadus, Popeye, Billy, Tommy and Joe Shively. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Shively; daughter, Penny Guilliams (David); grandchildren, Brad Shively (Heather); Kristi Shively, Hunter Shively (Jasmin) and Lacey Britten (Ben); great-granddaughters, Emma and Sidney; sisters, Frances Maxey, Christine Woods; brothers, Lewis, Jesse and Jeff Shively. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 with Rev. Roger Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountcastle Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
