Lillian “Ann” Peters Rutrough, 68, of Boones Mill, VA passed peacefully at the home she shared with her loving companion of 46 years. She was born November 6, 1947 to Lloyd and Catherine Birely Peters, and grew up in Lima, Ohio. She was baptized on July 3, 1966 into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, to which she remained faithful. On August 8, 1970 she married Donald Lee Rutrough whom she loved dearly. They had two daughters, Gina and Jena.
In 2010, she was diagnosed with lymphoma and patiently bore the pain and suffering. Surviving are her family, Gina and Ted Reed, Jena and Nevin Jamison, Heidi Jo and Ward Wray, Taylor and Rachel Reed, Kettie, Lane, and Rayna Jamison, and great grandchildren, Cline Reed Wray and Cami Ann Wray. Two sisters, Ava and Wayne Rapp and Martha and Earl Flora. Two brothers, David and Tana Peters and Joe and Nancy Peters. Step mother Mary Alice Peters. Four brothers-in-law, William and Darlene Rutrough, Glenn and Peggy Rutrough, Charlie Jr. and Gail Rutrough, and Dennis and Jonie Blankenship. Two sisters-in-law, Maxine Rutrough and Bonnie Lilly. Also, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and neighbors.
Special thanks to all of our dear family, friends, and caregivers for your many thoughts, prayers, and kind deeds shown to us through our journey. We especially want to thank all of the doctors and nurses of Blue Ridge Cancer Center, Carilion RMH 10 South, and Carilion Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm and Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2 pm -5 pm and 6 pm-8 pm at Mountain View Old German Baptist Brethren Church (249 Dugwell Road, Boones Mill, Va. 24065). Funeral service will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10 am, also at Mountain View, with burial to follow in church cemetery.
