Anna Laprade Stanley

Anna Laprade Stanley, age 93, of Rocky Mount VA went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2012. She was born in Franklin County VA daughter of the late Joel Levi Laprade and Bessie Ann Peters Laprade. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Roy A. Stanley; grandson, Michael Dean Guilliams; son-in-law, Johnny Hodges; sister, Myra Laprade Bowman; and two brothers, Maurice Laprade and Floyd Laprade. She is survived by her son, Joel Willis Stanley (J.W.) and his wife, Connie; her daughter, Penny S. Guilliams and her husband, Johnny, all of Rocky Mount VA; her daughter, Linda S. Exstrom, Salem VA; her grandchildren, Lane Guilliams and her husband Michael Shaver, Nina Hodges Ferris and her husband Chris, Trevor Jay Stanley; and her great-grandchildren, Justin Earls and Travis Earls. Anna was baptized into the Antioch Church of the Brethren at the age of 11. She later became a member of Highland United Methodist Church where she and Roy attended and supported faithfully. She was active in many church and community organizations to include; President of the Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (now Carilion); President of the Franklin County United Way; President of Franklin County Gideon Auxiliary, and President of the Franklin County Extension Club. The funeral will be Tuesday, June 12, 2012, 11 a.m. at Antioch Church of the Brethren by Rev. Jason Bryant, Pastor of Highland United Methodist Church and Pastor Eric Anspaugh, Antioch Church of the Brethren and Chaplain Rick Poland. Interment will follow at the Antioch Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Flora Funeral Home on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
