Annie Rigney Kirk, age 99 of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014. She was the widow of Price Kirk; and daughter of the late Henry L. & Ethel Davidson Rigney. Surviving are one daughter & son-in-law, Sheila & Dennis Keatts; grandson, Brandon Keatts; granddaughter & her husband, Jessica & James Hunt; great-grandsons, Tristan & Lucas Hunt. At the death of her sister-in-law and best friend, Edna Law Kirk, she became "Mama Annie" to her daughters and is survived by her special nieces and their families, Peggy & Johnny Allman, Iris & Larry Betterton, the Mark Betterton family, and was predeceased by Sandra Hobbs. She was also predeceased by two brothers, H. L. & Hugh Rigney; and is survived by Hugh's children, Sue Rigney, Chuck (Ladean) Rigney, and Diane (Larry) Vest. Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Missie & Sean Cooper, Lynn Wood, and their helpers. Her family is very grateful. The family is small and will not be gathering for meals. In memory of Annie those who wish to do something should take food to someone who is unable to do for themselves. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rocky Mount Christian Church, 120 S. Main St., Rocky Mount, VA 24151, or to Henry Fork Service Center, P.O. Box 888, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
