Annie Peters Montgomery

Annie Catherine Peters Montgomery, age 90 of Wirtz went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 1, 2016. She was a special homemaker and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel O. Montgomery; an infant daughter, Audrey Franklin Montgomery; her parents, Joel H. and Mary M. (Peters-Montgomery); father-in-law, John L. Montgomery; mother-in-law, Cora (Kingery) Montgomery; brothers, William H. Peters, J.H. Peters; sisters, Irene Fisher, Pauline Bowman and Ethelene Montgomery; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law. Surviving are her children, Donnie and Charlotte Montgomery, Marlene Montgomery, Carla and Gordon Rutrough all of Wirtz. In addition, 12 grandchildren, Sheldon and Thurston Bower, Jamie Montgomery, Brandon and Jessica Montgomery, Shelia Bower, Marcy and Aaron Crabtree, Justin Rutrough, Simon and Ashley Rutrough, Katie and James Wisler, Natalie and Jesse Long, John Tyler and Kelly Rutrough, Bailey Rutrough, Sallie Rutrough; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, David and Doris Peters of Wirtz, Dennis and Jeanette Peters of North Carolina; two sisters, Frances and Archie Boothe of Ohio, Virginia and Kenneth Rutrough of Wirtz; brother-in-law, Virgil Jamison of Salem; sisters-in-law, Lois and Joseph Denlinger of Ohio, Emma Montgomery of Ohio; many nieces, nephews and dedicated caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church 10 a.m. Monday with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
