Arbie Lee Carter, age 88 of Penhook, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
He was born September 13, 1920 a son of the late Walter and Radie McDaniel Carter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Benton Carter; three sisters; and four brothers.
Mr. Carter was the owner and operator of Carter Egg Farm, a founding member of Penhook United Methodist Church. He was also a 32° Mason with Snow Creek Lodge #90 A.F. & A.M., member of Danville Scottish Rite Boddies, and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. serving in WWII.
He is survived by his children, Larry and Malinee Carter of Union Hall, Dr. James Carter of Goodview, Kathy and Rodney Adamee of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Larry, Jr. and Anna Carter, Jennifer and Matt Hawkins, Josh and Daria Carter, John Carter Adamee, Katie Adamee; great-grandchildren, Geneieve Carter, Bailey Hawkins, Mattie Hawkins; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted from Penhook United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008 with Rev. Judith Short and Rev. Tommy Blanton officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008 at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
