Ardie Marlowe Donavant Prater Moore

Ardie Marlowe Donavant Prater Moore, 71 years old of 201 Pine View Lane, Axton, VA went home February 2, 2019. She was born Dec 3, 1947 on a mountain farm in Henry country on a snowy day to the late Cecil A. Marlowe and Lucy Haskins Marlowe. She was also preceded in death by husband Sherman Lee Prater. She is survived by a son: James Garland Donavant of Axton, VA, a daughter: Jennifer Donavant Shively, her husband David Wayne Shively and their son: Hunter Chase Shively of Rocky Mount, VA. Ardie also leaves a brother: Lloyd A. Marlowe and his wife Jeanne of Colorado, a sister: Cecelia M. Donavant and her husband Billy of Martinsville, VA, and a brother: Ernest Marlowe and his wife Peggy of Axton, VA. She also leaves an aunt: Marie King. Ardie also leaves step-children: Sandy Prater Angle and her husband Tim, Mike Prater, Todd Moore and his wife Meredith, Jennifer Moore Oakley and her husband Butch, Donna Moore Jessie and her husband Jerry; five step grandchildren: Amy English, Blair Oakley, Luke Oakley, Grayson Moore, and Abby Lucas; and two step-great grandsons: Stephen Lucas and Logan Lucas. Ardie was a faithful member of County Line Christian Church in Axton, VA. In her early years she was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, worked on the finance committee and helped start the "Single Sisters" group for widows. She loved helping fix meals and delivering them to shut ins. She loved helping on Fridays, volunteering to help with whatever needed to be done. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2019 at County Line Christian Church with Dean Ashby, Minister and Tim Maness Minister officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
