On Sunday, February 11, 2018 surrounded by her loving family, Audrey Bousman Matherly, age 79 of Rocky Mount was welcomed home to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Jake Bousman; her husband of 54 years, Kyle Reeves Matherly; her brother-in-law, Art Campbell; and nephew, Cody Campbell. Audrey worked as an RN in various capacities, a profession she loved. After her retirement, she devoted her life to her family and to helping others. She served on the board and volunteered at the Free Clinic of Franklin County. She also volunteered with the Auxiliary at Carilion Franklin Hospital and Carilion Hospice of Franklin County. She was a faithful member of Franklin Heights Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, assisted with children’s church and served where needed. Audrey lived a full and active life; she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was always ready to travel and welcomed new experiences. She also spent many hours reading and studying the bible. She especially loved to research and study the historical history to be prepared for her precept bible study. Audrey is survived by her children, Suzanne and George Payne of Jacksonville, FL., Leslie and Debbie Matherly of Davisville, WV., Ray Matherly of Smith Mountain Lake, Vickie and Darryl King of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Rob and Candy Noe of Parkersburg, WV, Justin and Christie Matherly of Parkersburg, WV, Zach and Amber Sink of Rocky Mount, Brittany Matherly of Tallahassee FL, and Carson King of Rocky Mount; her sister, Judy Campbell of Vienna WV; a brother-in-law and wife, Lynn and Jane Matherly; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Also her beloved and devoted little Maltese, Zeke. Above all, Audrey was devoted to her family. She joyfully welcomed the births of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was their biggest, cheerleader and gave freely of her love, time and support. Her shining stars are, Kaylea, Mason, Alexxis and Tristan of Parkersburg, WV., Kayleigh, Shay and Jake of Rocky Mount. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Free Clinic of Franklin County or Gideons International. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday February 15 th at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount. Services will be held on Friday February 16 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center 11 a.m. with Dr. Stan Parris officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park.
