Augusta P. Dudley

Augusta Susan Powell Dudley, age 94, went to be with her Lord on March 19, 2014. She was a wonderful, feisty woman who always kept things interesting. She loved to sing, grow flowers and sew, but she was most happy when she had visitors and her family spending time with her at her home. She also loved to go to Mt. Ivy Christian Church where she attended for 60+ years, where she could sing her heart out and adorn the chapel with flowers from her garden. She made an impression on all who met her and will be sadly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Dudley; parents Annie and John Powell; brothers and sisters, Joseph "Edmond" Powell, Jessee Powell, George Tosh, June Saunders, Mary Powell, Ruth Moore, Daisy Divers, Reva Jefferson Taylor and Betty Hammock. She has one surviving sister, Nancy Shelton. She is also survived by her children: Gail Smithers (Kelly), Jerry Dudley (Judy Shaw) and Jeffrey Dudley (Carol); her grandchildren: Ginger Smithers (Wayne Barton), Jarrett Dudley, Crystal Dudley, Faith Dudley and many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, March 22, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel, with Minister Steve Pasley officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family has requested no food, instead if you would like, please made a donation to Mt. Ivy Christian Church, 5120 Scruggs Road, Moneta, VA 24121. Augusta and her family would like to thank her caregivers Martha Perdue and Shirley Wray for being so good to her throughout the years.
