Avis Ramsey Jamison, age 88 of Rocky Mount, died peacefully at the Haven on Saturday, May 23, 2009.
She was born March 24, 1921 a daughter of the late Raleigh and Ida Dalton Ramsey. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ralph H. Jamison who died in May, 1987.
She was a hairdresser for over 30 years and a member of the Antioch Church of the Brethren.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy J. Bowman and husband Hubert; grandchildren, Tim and Monica Bowman, Leslie and Rob Minnix; great-grandsons, Will and Eugene Bowman, Sean and Tyler Minnix; sister, Lavona Perdue; special caregiver, Bonnie Harlow; numerous nieces and nephews.
She has been blessed the last five years with her caregivers and friends at the Haven.
Funeral services will be conducted from Antioch Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 with Rev. David Wolfe officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery followed by a meal at the church.
The family requests to please omit flowers and give to your favorite charity or to Antioch Church of the Brethren or Antioch Community Center, 2996 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.
Her family will be receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
