Barbara Ann Doss

Barbara Ann Doss, age 76 of Rocky Mount left her earthly home for her heavenly home after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, July 14, 2014 at her residence. She retired from Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital after many years of service. Her home church was Evangelistic House of Prayer in Ferrum, Va. She was a loving mother, grandmother and mother figure to many inside and outside her family. She was an excellent cook who shared her love of cooking with many. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, William Tyler and Lillie Myrtle Harrison; brothers, Horace, Cletis, Claude, Everett, Vestel; sisters, Ann Shields and Exie Dillon. Surviving are her children, Randy and Kathie Doss of Glade Hill, Debra and Kelvin Linkous of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Brookes Doss, Clay Linkous; great-granddaughter, Halynn Weddle (granny?s angel baby); brother, Billy Harrison of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Corena Harrison, Elsie Harrison; brother-in-law, Roosevelt Dillon; many special nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park 3 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association.
