Barry Bryan Hodges

Barry Bryan Hodges, 63, of Rocky Mount, VA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. He was born in Rocky Mount, VA, the son of the late John R. Hodges, Jr. and Irene Young Shively. He was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Callaway, VA and shared a special relationship with his pastor Billy Shively. He was employed by Bohon Construction where he met his dear friends Bradley and Bo Bohon. He enjoyed camping with his wife and spending time with his family. His laughter was contagious and he always had a joke to tell. His humor was one of a kind, and he will be dearly missed by his loved ones. He is preceded in death by three grandchildren; Destiny Hodges, Sacari and Giovanni Tanks, step father; McKinley Shively, mother in law; Mary Simmons and brother in law; Wayne Davis. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bonnie Simmons Hodges; daughters, Angela (Anthony) Preston, Amy Hodges; son, Ashley Hodges; grandchildren, Jeneva Simmons, Haleigh Carson, Memphis Elkins, Mason Hodges, Sincer Tanks and Elijah Witcher; brother, Edward (Cathy) Hodges; sisters, Debra Davis, Bambi (David) Elkins and Jessica (Joey) Hinton; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A special thanks to Blue Ridge Cancer Center and Carilion Hospice for the care provided. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022 with Dr. William R. Shively officiating. Interment will follow at the Young Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
