Beatrice Akers

Beatrice Akers, age 96 of Boones Mill and formerly of Danville died Tuesday, September 25, 2012. She was born February 4, 1916 a daughter of the late Peter and Sally Belcher Akers and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Bowling, Thelma Montgomery and Ruby Prillaman; and brothers, Weldon Akers and P.D. Akers, Jr. Surviving are her sister, Merle Prillaman of Roanoke; brothers, John Herbert Akers of Culpeper, Va., and E.C. Akers of Blue Ridge; special nephew, Robert B. Montgomery and wife Jean; numerous other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. Miss Akers was a member of Boones Mill Christian Church and the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History. Funeral services will be conducted from Boones Mill Christian Church 2 p.m. Thursday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boones Mill Christian Church Building Fund, 7950 Grassy Hill Road, Boones Mill, Virginia 24065.
