Beatrice Anderson McCall, age 88 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at her home after a long and debilitating illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard T. McCall; an infant son, Howard Randall; mother, Electa Pugh Anderson Boone; father, Charles Otey Anderson; loving stepfather, George R. Boone; brothers, Charles Otey Anderson, Jr., David Nelson Anderson and Paige Glenwood Anderson. She is survived by a special friend, Bob Epperly, whom she considered a son, of Sacramento, CA; her nephews, Charles A. Anderson of Gordonsville and David Nelson Anderson of Houston, TX; and several nieces and great-nieces. Bea took great pride in having been born in the Town of Rocky Mount and having lived her whole life within a mile of where she was born. She loved everything beautiful and was especially fond of and proud of her home, lawn, flowers, shrubs and trees. For as long as she was able, she delighted in working in her yard and in teaching others the proper way to maintain a beautiful home and lawn. She loved fashion and when she left her home, she was always dressed perfectly for the occasion. During World War II and the years following, she was a valued employee of the American Red Cross where she served many service men and women in their time of need. She loved her Lord and could flawlessly recite countless bible passages. Bea very much loved and appreciated her friends, especially Pearl Simmons, Ethel Akers, Janet Mease, and Bill Alexander. She was blessed to have wonderful, loving, dedicated, and loyal caretakers during the last years of her life and who became her friends and family. To Pearl Simmons, Faye Goad, Norma Jean McCoy, Amber Johnson, Josephine Moorman, Ruth McDaniel and Lee Ann Cook, Thank You. To James Williams, Thank You, for being a loyal, caring employee. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in High Street Cemetery. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, The Free Clinic of Franklin County, or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be immediately preceding the service at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
