Belvie Lee Bowles, age 86 of Rocky Mount died Thursday, May 30, 2013. He was born April 6, 1927 a son of the late Lovie and Annie Frith Bowles. Belvie was also preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Dorothy Bowles; brothers, Kyle, Neal, Howard and Daniel; and sister, Elizabeth Chapel. Belvie retired from Stanley Furniture Company with 30 years of service and was also a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Rocky Mount Lodge #201 A.F. & A.M. and Furnace Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his special niece, Mildred Joyce Martin and husband Larry; special nephews, LeRoy Bowles, Mike Bowles and wife Denise; along with many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Mike Lawhorn officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with Masonic Rites by Rocky Mount Lodge #201 A.F. & A.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Furnace Creek Baptist Church. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
