Bernard “Tommy” Milam, age 71 a 30-year resident of Moneta, Virginia formerly of Covel, West Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning July 25, 2021 following a very long illness. Tommy was at home as per his wishes surrounded by his family who loved him dearly and his faithful fur babies, Baxter and Baylee. Tommy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie Milam. He was a very proud father to his two children. His daughter, Tammy Kelly and her husband Hal Kelly of Vinton, Virginia, and his son, Brian and his wife Kelly also of Moneta Virginia. The earthly joys of his life were definitely his six grandchildren, Ashleigh (Derek) Gobble, Joshua Kelly, Bryleigh, Kaylin, Charleigh and Hollin Milam. He was so blessed to meet and be able to hold his two-week-old great-grandson, Grayson Gobble. He is also survived by his brother, John Milam and wife Angela of Princeton West Virginia. He was preceded in his death by one sister, Gaye Milam. Tommy was the son of the late Billy and Maude Milam of Princeton, West Virginia formerly of Covel, West Virginia. Tommy was born in 1950 in Herndon, West Virginia and was a 1967 graduate of Herndon High School. He proudly served his country in the Army and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, being the recipient of The Bronze Star. He was a certified electrician by trade and worked for and retired from Consolidated Coal company of Itmann, West Virginia. Tommy was a long-time resident of the Basin Freewill Baptist Church of Basin, West Virginia. His hobbies in his healthier years were hunting, boating, skiing and motorcycle riding with his great friends and working on all so many projects. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021 at the home (140 Stripers Landing Rd., Moneta VA 24121) with military honors. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Scruggs Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad at 2130 Bluewater Dr., Moneta, Va. 24121 for all of their unselfish time and willingness to help so many times over the last several years.
