Betty Jo Gardner Dudley, age 91 of Rocky Mount died Friday, March 20, 2015. She was the widow of Dr. Frank H. Dudley. She was also preceded in death by her parents Joseph Ira Gardner, DDS and Annie Wellington Barnett Gardner; and sisters, Lois Jane Gardner Boyd (Dr. John), and Anne Lee Gardner Smith (Theodore). Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Anne Dudley Ellis (Robert), and Susan Dudley Clements (David); grandchildren, Anne Ellis Gross (Micah), Benjamin Dudley Clements, Brooke Clements Orellana (Dr. Bryan), Megan Ellis Evans (Michael); great-grandchildren, Savannah Anne Evans and Emily Leigh Gross; nieces and nephews, John Otto Boyd III (Donna), Jane Boyd Hoover (Steven), Theodore Marvin Smith, Jr. (Dianne), Tyson Gardner Smith (Kate); devoted cousin, Robert E. Bradford (Nancy). She was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. and member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church where she served on the church board, taught Sunday School and was past president of the Rocky Mount United Methodist Women. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Franklin Memorial Park with Rev. Bruce D. Tuttle officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Mount United Methodist Church Organ Restoration Fund, 35 North Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
