“I hope so” is a phrase many people will associate with Betty Jo Lynch Hodges. After several months of having her health decline, the goal, she sat for herself with the AMEDISYS team was to walk around outside on July 20th- her 80th birthday. Just a few days past her goal she walked the stairway of heaven on July 27th to be met by the love of her life Nelson Ray Hodges and her first-born child Rosemary Lynne English, parents Wilmer and Rosa Bailey Lynch and many others. Oh, what a party her last gold star will be rewarded with. Previous days on earth the conversation of son…son…son- Steven Ray Hodges! I know that you love me and I dearly love you but to everything there is a season and a time for everything and my time is drawing near. Do not mourn for me because my best life is about to be… I will have no pain and no restrictions of any type for I will be with the Lord. My child, promise me that you will continue my legacy of love with Becky. Jessica and Britt; with Kara, Tara- Jonathan, Jasper and Ryder… teach them the lessons Nelson and I have instilled in you, to be and do your very best at all times. Never feel that just because you do not see me in my body that you are alone in any way for there is Thelma and Ben, Linda and Ronnie, Cecil and MJ, Daniel and Judy, Leslie, David and Betty, Allen and Peggy and Marie plus their families to help out, and of course Nellie, my cat who loves you so. After 50 years my Ronile family still thought I was hard nosed and tough but I only wanted the best for them; for some, it was just a push to find that needed confidence to believe in themselves and strive for so much more. To all my family and friends always remember, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. There is no better place! A memorial service will be held at Henry Fork Church 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023 with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family requests that everyone eat at least one bite of ice cream today to celebrate Betty Jo’s life as this was one of her daily food groups. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
