Bob Lewis Smithers, age 69, of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday January 2, 2007 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 10, 1937 to the late Doogie and Ruby Smithers. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillie Mae Smithers; and a brother Nile Smithers.
He was retired from Bassett Industries.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Loretta and David Riker, and Missy and Timmy Brown, all of Rocky Mount; grandchildren Benjamin Robert Crews and Jessica Lynn Brown; brother and sister-in-law Kelly and Gail Smithers; sisters and brothers-in-law Faye Pasley, Artie and Tommie Lee Gusler, Cheta and Arty Bussey, Helen and Eddie Angle, Elaine and Joe Gilley, and Teresa and Paul Hickson; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. Ronald Coleman officiating.
Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Thursday with his family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
