Listen to Obituary
Bobby Wayne Zeigler 81 of Rocky Mount, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 9, 2016. He was a dedicated soldier, beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend. Anyone who knew Bobby knew he never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors, farming and was an extremely hard worker, dedicated, strong willed and very humble. Bobby was the youngest of seven siblings, a son of the late Otha and Folcie Young Zeiglerand was also predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Wray Zeigler of 34 years; brothers: Bernice Zeigler of Union Hall, Roy Zeigler of Florida, Aldophus and Raymond Elwood Zeigler also of Virginia and two infant twin sisters. He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sisters, Norma Zeigler of Rocky Mount , Betty Zeigler and “Spike” Melvin Jones of Forest. He also cherished one nephew like the son he never had, Ricky Dale Pagans, “Doodlebug” and a special lady he adored, Betty Mabry. Growing up, Bobby was in the Army, later became employed by Fieldcrest Mills in Fieldale until he accepted a position as an oil delivery driver with his lifelong friend, the late Ira Culler with Hub Oil Company. Later Hub Oil Company became Davenport Energy and after 48 years Bobby was forced to retire due to a lengthy illness. Bobby deeply regretted having to say good-bye to all of the loyal customers he served. Making the most of everyday, Bobby usually started his early mornings by meeting other friends for breakfast at McDonalds and comraderies. To all of you gents, he cherished your friendship and you were truly an inspiration to his day. Just weeks before Bobby’s passing he became saved with his special lady, Betty and nephew Ricky by his side. His infectious smile and soft chuckle will be forever in our hearts. A special thank you to his little buddy, Miss Chloee Faith for singing to him at his bedside helping to put him to sleep. Also a special thanks to Sallie Martin and Hospice Team of Redwood. Also sincere gratitude to Dr. Jack Bumgardner, (Dr. “Bum”) for your years of dedication to Bobby’s health. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you make a donation in Bobby Zeigler’s memory to the Franklin County Humane Society and Planned Pethood Clinic and Adoption on behalf of his cat Sarah or to the Free Clinic of Franklin County/Bernard Healthcare Center.
