Brenda Joyce Oakes

Brenda Joyce Oakes, age 72 of Rocky Mount, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024. Brenda was born in Danville, VA to the late Walter Samuel and Ruth Grimes Oakes. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Walter Lee “Chucky” Oakes. Surviving are her sisters, Sylvia Oakes Kelley, Judith Faye Oakes Hosaflook and Bonnie Oakes Mullins; brother, Samuel Austin Oakes (Marilyn); nephews, Walter Stuart "Bud” Dudley (Penny) and Chandler Exton Kivett; nieces, Joeylyn Dudley Patton and Joette Hosaflook Kivett (Joseph); grand-nephew, Aaron Blake Patton and grand-nieces, Shelby Ruth Kivett Lawless (Nate) and Grace Olivia Patton. Brenda attended Longwood College. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
