Brenda Alfreda O’Neal

Brenda Alfreda O’Neal was one of five children born on June 5, 1964, to Barbara Jean Tanks. She made a peaceful farewell from her beautiful life on October 18, 2017, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

Brenda was married to Kenneth Witcher prior to his passing, and later remarried Randy O’Neal on August 6, 2016. Together, Brenda and Kenny had two children Steven Witcher and Billy Tanks. Brenda is preceded in death by Barbara Jean Tanks (mom), Kenneth Witcher (husband), and Greg Muse (brother).

Brenda attended and graduated from Franklin County High School. She later went on to attend nursing school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Brenda enjoyed watching her Dallas Cowboys play and spending time with her family and friends. She loved taking care of others and never really thought much of herself. Brenda was always willing to lend a helping hand to make sure all of her ‘babies’ were taken care of. She would always be there when you needed her and always had a smile on her face. She was the backbone of her family and was truly loved by each and every one of her family members and friends.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Randy O’Neal and mother in law, Joyce O’Neal. Two sons, Steven Witcher and Billy Tanks. Three sisters, Ardella Tanks, Melinda Holland, and Tiffany (Darrell) Brown. One brother, Ben (Kim) Holland. Six grandchildren, Jaylison and Alexia Tanks, Xavier Witcher, Tatiayna, Briana, and Tyleke Callaway. Fifteen nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and friends who cared dearly for her. Other special friends include Jeff Hagwood, Anniebelle Townes, David (Amy) Phillips, Amber Johnson, Gary Williams, and Anne and Charles Davis.

Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017. Interment will follow in Byrd View Cemetery. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
