It is with profound sadness that we celebrate the life of Buford Monroe Frith. Born a true country boy, deep in the rolling hills of Franklin County, Virginia, Buford was the youngest of nine with four older sisters and four older brothers. Growing up in Franklin County, he had a love for cars and worked as a mechanic for 30 years at the Rocky Mount Shell Station. This led to a life-long passion for auto racing. Buford spent many years competing in the local and regional racing circuit. Later in life he worked until retirement for Cooper Wood. He was a loving husband father, and friend who thought nothing of helping anyone who was in need. He is preceded in death by parents, Charlie Herbert and Ada Ingram Frith; sisters, Gladys, Avis, and Vivian; brothers, James, Morris, Lonnie, and Buren. He is survived by wife, Mary; sister, Betty; son, Chuck and daughter-in-law Leann Frith; daughter, Phyllis and son-in-law Steve Lusk; grandchildren, Greg and Zach Frith, Katy and Jimmy Lusk; numerous nieces and nephews. He lived a life, pure of heart with a love of family and friends, adorned with a smile, a ball cap, and a pair of oil-stained bib overalls. Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount Baptist Church 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
