Buford E. Thompson of Ferrum, VA passed away peacefully at the age of 77, November 30, 2007 at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents Peter Thompson and Maude Sigmon Thompson; six brothers Curtis, Clifford, Archie, B.T. Sr., Emmett, and Frank; one sister Loma Richardson.
Buford was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Survivors are his loving wife of 57 years Estelle Shively Thompson; three sons Gary and Michelle Thompson, Benny and Teresa Thompson, Ricky and Dana Thompson; one very special grandchild Logan Riley Thompson; brothers Lester and Carol Thompson, Gene and Lois Thompson; one sister Gladys Tosh and husband Clinton; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and one very special little dog, BoBo.
His family would especially like to thank Dr. Lyne Aigner and the staff of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Monday with Elder Carl Terry and Elder Mark Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday with his family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel and at other times at the home, 5609 Franklin St., Ferrum, VA 24088.
