Calvin Clayton Altice

Calvin Clayton "Poochie" Altice, age 66 of Rocky Mount passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Lewis-Gale Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Clifford "Charlie" and Mary Elizabeth Altice; grandparents, Herbert and Annie Lee Jones, and John and Mattie Belle Altice; brother, James Altice; and step-daughter, Tammy Merricks. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Murray Altice; step-children, Robin Davis (Rickey), and Joey Hall (Michelle); grandchildren, Katey Davis, Rachel (Andrew) Price, Sally (Michael) Davis, Courtney Hall, Aiden Hall; and a very special great-granddaughter, Rosalyn Goff, who loved him and fondly called him "Papa Poo"; and his special spoiled cat - "Simpy". Also surviving are his brother, Doug Altice; sister, Mildred Pagans; and very special friend who was like a brother, Darrell Oakes; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Altice; nephews, Eddie (Becky) Altice, Clifford (Corinna) Pagans, Patrick (Lynn) Altice, Eric (Bonnie) Altice; nieces, Martha (Troy) Pagans, Caroline Arrington, Leslie (Wesley) Turner, Kristin (Evan) Murray; uncle, Alton J. (Joyce) Jones; and aunts, Dee Moore and Mary Jane Jones; great-nephews and nieces, Derick, Dustin, Trevor, Whitney, Haley, Zach and Jamie. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Charles Murray; sisters-in-law Katie (Eddie) Mullins, and Cindy Silvey; nephews, Ryan (Katie Marie) Mullins, John Webb II, Jeremy (Shayla) Mullins; niece, Britteny (Travis) Ferguson; and great-nephews and nieces, Rylen, Michael, Bentley, Madelyn, Hayden, and Parker. Poochie will certainly be missed by many friends too numerous to mention as well as the many people he helped over the years. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Ronald Coleman and Pastor Bob Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
