Carlton Ledford Hodges, 87 of Rocky Mount born July 9, 1927 passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side, Friday December 26, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Pearlie Hodges and Lucy Mary Bousman, his son, Donnie Carlton Hodges, brothers, Perry Hodges, Albert "Guy" Hodges, Morton "Pete" Hodges and his sister, Christine Hall. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Clara Belle Hudson Hodges, two sons and their wives, Garrett and Connie Hodges, Jimmy and Terry Hodges; two grandchildren Dwayne Hodges and Tanya Young (Robert), one great grandson, Jacob Garrett Young, two brothers, Junior "Bud" Hodges (Rebecca), Glenwood Hodges and one sister, Paige Davis, three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Carlton was a dedicated dairy farmer for over 50 years. He was a member of Glade Hill Baptist Church. After surviving prostate cancer, Clara Belle and Carlton spent much time traveling short distances and enjoying each other until he became bed ridden in 2010. Clara Belle was his caregiver until he went to be with the Lord the day after Christmas. The family would like to thank the staff from Franklin County Home Health and Hospice for their help and care. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
