Carolyn Sue Keller was born March 25, 1948 to Gilbert and Alice Mata in the mountains of Monterey, Tennessee. She passed away at age 73 at the hospital in Rocky Mount, Virginia, after contracting Covid on Monday, December 6, 2021. Carolyn was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church at Beech Grove, Indiana when she was 18, and continued in that faith, aligning herself with New Conference in 2009.  On July 8, 1967 she was united in marriage to Glen Eugene Keller and this union lasted over 54 years.  They made their first home in Anderson, Indiana, and were blessed with two children, Daniel and Suzanna. Carolyn spent 35 years as a registered nurse, becoming a supervisor and was director of St John’s Medical Oncology unit in Anderson for 8 years.  In 1995 she opened an off-site oncology center before they moved to Florida later that year.  She continued her nursing career in home health care in Hardy County, Florida until the year of 2000, when she retired after experiencing 3 heart attacks. They lived in Lakeland and were members in Pine Grove District for 17 years before moving to Ferrum, Virginia, making their home among the brethren from Shenandoah District for 9 years until she contracted Covid and passed into eternity on December 6, 2021 at 6 pm.  She was blessed by an anointing service that morning. She is survived by:  her husband, Glen Eugene, her son, Daniel Glen Keller and wife, Michelle, her daughter Suzanna Helen Santiago, and husband, Thomas, 6 grandchildren, and one sister, Angela Mata. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Long’s Building (164 Dans Road, Boones Mill, Virginia 24065). Interment will follow in the Old German Baptist Brethren Church (NC) Cemetery. Her family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service on Sunday. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
