Carolyn Holland Wainwright

After faithfully and bravely enduring a long illness, Carolyn Holland Wainwright, age 72, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Carolyn was born on June 28, 1953, to the late Walter H. Holland, Sr. and Ola Witcher Holland. Carolyn was a faithful member of Morningside Missionary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, Virginia where she served on the Usher Board and was a choir member.

Carolyn attended Lee M. Wade School in Rocky Mount. Early in her career, she was employed at M&W Manufacturers and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant where she diligently served elderly and disabled patients for over twenty years until her illness. Carolyn had many hobbies which included playing cards, games, Bingo, and cooking. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Walter H. Holland, Sr.; a sister, Phyllis V. Witcher; and a daughter-in-law, Lakeisha Nichole Young. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Willie Wainwright; her mother, Ola Witcher Holland; three (3) sons: Davy Lamonte Young, Demond Lashay Young and James (J.C.) Young (Wendy); brothers: Walter H. Holland, Jr. (Patricia) and Leon Holland (Taffie); sisters: Deborah Wells (Freddy), Cassandra Holland, and Sonja Elkins. She also leaves to cherish her memory seven grandchildren: Daiyanna, Davy Jr. (LJ), Delaney, Breana, Jeremiah, A’Raja, and Jasmine; two great-grandchildren: Kar'ma and Brayden; and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends, relatives, and godchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Pigg River Community Center 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2026. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
