Carrie L. Rakes Thomason, age 89 of Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007.
Mrs. Thomason was born on June 20, 1917 a daughter of the late John M. and Annie V. Rakes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Travis Russell Thomason; brothers, Luther Rakes, George Rakes, Jake Rakes; and sister, Lucy Nichols.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Russell and Judy Thomason, James (Jimmy) Thomason; daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and John Cooke, Ann and Jesse Holley; sisters, Carlene Robertson, Mae Holley; brothers, Glenn Rakes, Thomas Rakes; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday with her family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
