Carrie Leigh Spencer, age 17 of Moneta, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008.
Carrie was born on July 14, 1990 and was a senior at Franklin County High School. She was a shining light of love for her family and friends who will hold her in their hearts forever. And although her destiny has been shortened, she will always be with us.
Carrie is survived by her parents, Garry and Debra Spencer; sister, Caitlin Spencer; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Spencer of Arrington, VA; her maternal grandparents, Glen Cooper and Margaret Cooper both of Wirtz, VA; great aunt, Mary Willie Spencer; aunts and uncles who love her, Tracy and Tracie Cooper, Theresa Cooper, Stacey and Sandy Cooper, Sheila and Rick Midkiff, Candice Cooper and Steven Schroeder, Betty and Bobby Brown, Mary Ann and Harry Stone; cousins, Meg Brown, Spencer and John Huesdeck, Sam and Kirstin Stone and sons Brooks and Bensen, Brett Stone, Preston and Mindy Brown, Keith and Michael Cooper and daughters, Kylie and Kennedy, Greg Holland, Shane Cooper, Chris Cooper.
Special friends to cherish her memory, Chance Taylor, boyfriend who had her heart, best friend since childhood, Brandy Doss; very special friend, Olivia “Liver” Hammock, Michael Cessenna, who was like a big brother to her.
Carrie planned to enter college in the fall to major in English and planned to become an English Teacher. Carrie gave the gift of life to many unknown recipients as she had committed to becoming an organ and tissue donor. She will be missed always by those she touched.
Memorial services will be conducted from Halesford Baptist Church 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating.

Her family will be receiving friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m.
