Catherine Elaine Colna (Hoffman), lovingly known as “Cass,” was born on March 21, 1941, and passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 1, 2026, after a brave and faithful battle with dementia.
Catherine was the devoted wife of Theodore Kenneth Colna Sr. for 67 beautiful years and the proud mother of nine children. Her life was rooted in love—love for her family, her faith, and the simple, meaningful moments that made each day special.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially crocheting, gathering for meals with family, and spending time around the table playing cards and board games with loved ones, where laughter and togetherness were always shared. She found comfort in her faith, often listening to and softly singing or humming along to her favorite country-western songs and cherished church hymns, and she rarely missed a Sunday morning sermon.
Above all else, Catherine’s greatest joy was her family. She loved watching, supporting, and cheering on her children and grandchildren through every milestone, taking immense pride in being their mother and grandmother.
Catherine is survived by her beloved husband, Theodore Kenneth Colna Sr.; her children, Linda L. Rhine (Stanley), Theodore K. Colna (Jackie), Carol A. Helms (Wayne), John M. Colna (Nancy), Harley Colna (Viola), Vicki Colna, Kim Creegan (Zach), Charles Colna, and Cassie Colna; as well as 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her siblings including sisters, June, Dorothy, Ruth, and Ann; her brother, Bud; and her grandson, Theodore Kenneth Colna III.
Catherine will be deeply missed, but her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with loved ones who went before her.
