Catherine A. Perdue

Catherine A. Perdue, 91, of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away after struggling with dementia on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the residence of her son, Claude "Junior" Perdue, in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was born December 10, 1923 in Montgomery County Virginia and spent her childhood in Glade Hill, Virginia. She resided most of her life in Rocky Mount, Virginia. She was retired from Lane Furniture Company and was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Catherine, or "Kack" as most of her friends and family knew her was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was outgoing and caring; loved to work in her garden, yard, and travel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude H. Perdue. Surviving are her son, Claude "Junior" Perdue of Kingsport, Tennessee; granddaughter, Stephanie Burks of Johnson City, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Madison Ramsey Burks and Harrison Grey Burks of Johnson City, Tennessee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Velma and Jack Kendrick of Vinton, Virginia; sister-in-law, Pauline Perdue, of Glade Hill, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. Visitation will be held at Flora Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel with Jeffrey Robinson, Pastor of Rocky Mount Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Kingsport Amedisys Hospice for the loving and professional care provided during her illness.
