Cecil Lee Stone, 74 of Rocky Mount passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013. He was born September 26, 1938, son of the late Columbus and Bettie Walker Stone. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman R. Stone and Donald Stone. Cecil graduated from Franklin County High School, Ferrum College, East Carolina and received his Master’s Degree at UVA. He was a teacher for many years, teaching in North Carolina, Fieldale and Franklin County (Burnt Chimney, Benjamin Franklin Middle School and Callaway) before retiring. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Wanda Presson Stone of the home; sisters, Lovelene Lewis, Alice Stowe, Betty Sparks, Shirley Tobler and Nancy Stone. Cryptside services will be conducted11:00 a.m. Saturday at The Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum Mountain View Memorial Park (Boones Mill) with Rev. Steve Manuel officiating. His family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service time. His family respectfully declines food donations at the home and asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Oak Level Baptist Church Building Fund, 7720 Oak Level Road, Bassett, Virginia 24055.
