Charles Hugh Davis, age 77 of Rocky Mount, died on Thursday, April 24, 2008.
He was born on December 7, 1930 in Waynesboro PA, to Ruth Greenawalt Davis and Hugh Theodore Davis. He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Evelyn Yeatts (Cleo) and brothers-in-law Douglas M. Haskins and Billy C. Haskins.
Charles attended Texas Christian University, Letourneau University and graduated from Lynchburg College, moving to Rocky Mount after accepting a position with the Franklin County Public Schools. He retired in 1989 after teaching for 25 years. He also retired from the West Virginia Air National Guard in 1990 with 38 years of military service.
He was an elder at Rocky Mount Christian Church and member of many organizations including the Rocky Mount Lions Club, Waynesboro Eagles Club, International Organization of Odd Fellows, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Dorothy Haskins Adkins Davis; his sons and daughter-in-law, David Bruce Adkins (Sally Ervin), Charles H. (Chip) Davis II; sisters-in-law, Joy Haskins, Lena Oakes (Sammy), Brenda Bryant (Barry); brothers-in-law, Wayne Haskins (Gale) and Bobby Haskins (Karen).
Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount Christian Church 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. Jody Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.

His family will be receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the Church.
