Charles Jenkins

Charles Jenkins, age 95 of Wirtz died Friday, October 19, 2018. Mr. Jenkins was born in Paterson, New Jersey and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Williams Jenkins; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; and a great-grandchild, Aiden Crouch. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Janice Jenkins; children, Charlene Trovato and Pamela Hooper; grandchildren, Tara, Jamie, Sasha, Lindsay and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Skylar, Ava, Jacob, Camryn, Benjamin, Kylie and Lane; great-great-grandchildren, Avery Grace and Piper Jaye; god-children, Nancy Jenkins and Todd Meyers; and sister, Elizabeth Bariezas. Mr. Jenkins has been a resident of Virginia for the past 14 years and was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army for three years during World War II. He was also a contractor for plumbing and heating and also worked for the West Milford Board of Education. Mr. Jenkins was also a member of several lodges. He was a member of Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge as well as the American Legion Post 54 in Bedford. Funeral services will be conducted from Sandy Ridge Baptist Church 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Joe Dillion officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
