Charles "Hugh" Preston, Sr.

Charles “Hugh” Preston, Sr. 88, of Roanoke and formerly of Franklin County, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017. He was born August 26, 1929, a son of the late Albert Booker Preston, Sr. and Eula Thornton Preston. Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Taylor Preston, sons, Charles Hugh Preston, Jr. and Robert Allen Preston, Sr., brother, Benjamin Howard Preston, grandchildren, Carrie Preston, Robert Allen Preston, Jr., Charles Hugh Preston III, Chris Preston, Andrew Preston and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Preston was skilled in electronics, working at Dixie Appliance Company and as owner of Affiliated Electronics Corp. for 37 years. He enjoyed hunting and riding ATV’s with Herbert and Roy Jones and spending time with the Jones family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers from Carilion Clinic Hospice of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2017, with Rev. David Long officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
